Oh Barf...Worms

I just found a tapeworm on Jade's face! Uhh it was right beside her eye. So I began using my detective skills and searching poo. Well Behr went first, I suspected he was the culprit, but nope. Buddy went next and after digging around his poo, with the bag on my hand of course I found one worm. BARF! I would not have found it without digging.

So poor Buddy, heartworms and tapeworms...He'll be back at the vet on Monday.

Rules for Non-pet Owners Who Visit

1. They live here; you don't.

2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.

3. I like my pet better than I like most people.

4. To you it's an animal. To me he and she are adopted sons and daughters
who are hairy, walk on all fours, and is speech challenged.

5. Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all
the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive our car,
don't hang out with drug using friends, don't drink or smoke, don't worry about
buying the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, don't need a gazillion
dollars for college, and won't get pregnant!

A Shelter Dog's Poem

Do I Go Home Today?

My family brought me home, cradled in their arms,
They cuddled me and smiled at me, said I was full of charm.

They played with me and laughed with me, they showered me with toys,
I sure do love my family, especially the girls and boys.

The children loved to feed me, they gave me special treats,
They even let me sleep with them, all snuggled in their sheets.

I used to go for many walks, often several times a day,
They even fought to hold the leash, I'm very proud to say.

They used to laugh and praise me, when I played with that old shoe,

The kids and I would grab a rag, and for hours we would tug,
So I thought I did the right thing when I chewed the bedroom rug.

They said I was out of control and would have to live outside,
This I did not understand, although I tried and tried.

The walks stopped, one by one; they said they hadn't time,
I wish that I could change things, I wish I knew my crime.

My life became so lonely in the backyard on a chain.
I barked and barked all day long to keep from going insane.

So they brought me to a shelter, but were embarrassed to say why,
They said I caused an allergy, and then kissed me good-bye.

If I'd only had some classes when I was just a pup,
I wouldn't have been so hard to handle, when I was all grown up.

"You only have one day left," I heard a worker say.
Does this mean a second chance? Do I go home today?

Friday Sept. 12th Update

Buddy went to see the vet about heartworm treatment today. The vet saw no other symptoms of HW so he said we should wait until it cools down. I'm thinking, uh January? But no he said Nov. 1st. So we are to put him on heartguard and make an appointment then.

Will said the vet was really proud, kinda wowwed when Will told them our routine, exercise, brand of food and all. Go us! (Really thank the pet nesties) Now we need to "upgrade" Sheena!

If you want to know about dog food look here:
http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/
Under Reviews you should be feeding a 4 star food at the least! If you have to look or you buy the food at the grocery store, it's probably a big fat 1....ours was before we switched.

Speaking of food....Will also made reservations at the almost booked kennel for Christmas today! They said they feed "premium food" Bil-Jac...once again it's a 1....premium to who? I wish I'd have heard that, I would have said something!

Buddy...so darn cute!

NILIF (Nothing in life is free) they have to do something before everything. Does that make sense? This was before I fed them...last night I told them all to go to their crate and wait. Buddy was so eager waiting for his meal!
So pretty...his heartworm treatment begins this Friday the 12th! Keep checking for updates.
